Health Ministry initiates tightening of license conditions for medicine imports
The Health Ministry of Ukraine has initiated the tightening of license conditions for medicine imports.
According to a draft order of the ministry, posted on its Web site, the existing license conditions, in particular, are supplemented with requirements that importers' profiles should contain information that the production of drugs imported to Ukraine should comply with the requirements of the appropriate manufacturing practice harmonized with the legislation of the European Union.
As reported, the law on amending certain laws of Ukraine concerning licensing medicine imports and defining the notion "an active pharmaceutical ingredient" was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on July 4, 2012. The law defines the term "an active pharmaceutical ingredient," i.e. increases the requirements for the quality of drugs sold to Ukrainians, and from March 1, 2013 introduces a responsible approach to medicine imports - licensing.
