Parliament to simplify procedure for ending business activity

The Verkhovna Rada is planning to simplify the procedure for ending the business activity of legal entities and individuals.

A total of 315 MPs out of the 375 registered in the parliament's session hall voted for a respective bill at first reading on Tuesday.

The bill proposes limiting the maximum term for creditors to make their demands to legal entities or individuals who have stopped their business activity. It is proposed to establish that such a period cannot be less than two and more than three months from the date of publication of an announcement of the decision by business entities to terminate their activity.

First Deputy Justice Minister Inna Yemelianova said that under current legislation this term cannot be less than two months and that a maximum term had not been set. It is proposed to introduce respective amendments to the Economic and Civil Codes of Ukraine.

The explanatory note to the bill says that the amendments to the said codes will help reduce corruption on the part of officials from respective government agencies and eliminate the pressure by regulatory bodies on businesses.
