AeroSvit returning aircraft to lessors, resumption of activity undecided
AeroSvit (Kyiv) might not resume its activities and implement the previously announced for April long-haul flights, chairman of the trade union of stewards at the airline Veniamin Tymoshenko has told Interfax-Ukraine.
He noted that the company is gradually returning aircraft to lessors.
According to him, the airline has not announced this officially, but the remaining flight crews are expected to receive notices of dismissal soon.
As reported, Kyiv-based AeroSvit airline said that it is pointless to attract investment to resume regular long-haul flights due to court rulings against it, and the airline does not rule out that a bigger reduction of personnel than foreseen in the restructuring program could occur.
AeroSvit said that from February it completely abandoned domestic and medium-haul flights, and it intended to resume long-haul flights to New York, Beijing and Bangkok from April.
