Government wants to install automatic truck scales on highways in 2013-2014
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has ordered the installation of automatic truck scales on highways in 2013-2014.
This is stipulated in Ukraine's economic development stimulation program for 2013-2014, which the government approved by its resolution No. 187 of February 27 and posted on its Web site on Monday.
The expected result of this task will be the reduction of state budget spending on the repair of roads and the increase in state budget revenues in the form of the collection of fines for violations of the rules of passage by large trucks and the duty on road maintenance.
It will also help save up to UAH 2 billion per year on road repairs and create 150 new jobs.
The projected level of funding is UAH 29.12 million in 2013, UAH 142.72 million in 2014 at the expense of other funds, including those raised under government guarantees.
The deputy prime minister, the Infrastructure Ministry and the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Information Technology are responsible for the fulfillment of these tasks.
