Ukraine wants to get a fair price for natural gas from Russia, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
"We do not need any preferences. We need a fair gas price. And what price might be fair? Say Gazprom sells gas on the border with Poland, now drop the transport costs incurred by Gazprom when pumping gas through Ukraine, and we will get the fair price for gas," he said in an interview with Russia's TV channel Mir aired on Sunday evening.
The prime minister noted that due to the high price for gas, Ukraine significantly cut its consumption, which affects Gazprom as well, as it loses a major customer.
