NBU starts preparing for introduction of limits on cash payments, says source
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has started preparing for the introduction of limits on cash payments by individuals, starting out from UAH 150,000.
"In the near term it is planned to discuss the issue in public. The setting of the limit of UAH 150,000 will be discussed," a well-informed source in the NBU told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
He said that it is planned to consider the initiative and realize it in 2013.
As reported, the NBU is mulling the possibility of the gradual introduction of an upper limit for cash payments by individuals. According to the central bank, growth in the volumes of cashless payments will support the economy and promote the reduction of the shadow sector.
