Ukraine, EU to sign association agreement soon, says MEP
Ukraine should be a part of the European Union, Member of the European Parliament Ewald Stadler (Austria) has said.
"Ukraine is in all respects a part of Europe. One of the main factors is its geographical location," Stadler said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
He said that at present Ukraine has chosen the democratic path, which was demonstrated by the October 28 parliamentary elections. The MEP said that these parliamentary elections were an improvement compared with the previous ones.
Speaking about critical remarks about the elections by the OSCE observers, Stadler said they were unlikely to affect the prospects for Ukraine's European integration, due to the fact that there were other opinions that will also be taken into account in Europe.
The Austrian politician expressed a belief that Ukraine would create a legitimate parliament.
He also said that the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine might be signed soon,
"I think that the process of signing the Association Agreement will be completed successfully," he said.
