PGO: Court obliges private structures to return lands located on St. Sophia Cathedral's territory to municipal property
Higher Economic Court of Ukraine has approved the lawfulness of the decision of the Court of Appeals to satisfy a lawsuit of Kyiv prosecutor's office on the recognition of agreements under which Kyiv City Council illegally sold 0.5 hectares of land located in the historical center of Kyiv on the territory of Saint Sophia Cathedral to private structures, as illegal.
As PGO press service reported on Thursday, this decision also obliges the private structures to return ownership of these land plots to the Kyiv territorial community.
The value of the land sold totals over UAH 27 million and it is included into the list of the World Heritage.
Moreover, the site is also the location of an architectural monument of municipal importance - the farmhouse of the family of painter Oleksandr Murashko, which had earlier been returned to municipal ownership following a prosecutor's lawsuit.
