Antonov Design Bureau promotes multi-purpose An-74 and An-140 to Latin American market
The Kyiv-based Antonov Design Bureau will present the multi-purpose plane families An-74 and An-140 to potential clients in Latin America during the LAAD-2009 international air exhibit, which will be held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, on April 14-17.
Among the designs to be presented by the company at the exhibit is the new version of the multi-purpose An-74 family, a sea patrol plane, Antonov Design Bureau told Interfax.
The plane is intended for highly effective fulfillment of a broad range of tasks, including patrolling and determining the contamination of the sea surface. If need be, the plane can be easily reequipped to transport people and to evacuate sick and wounded people. The new transport version of the An-74 plane can carry various cargo, including military, weighing under 10 tonnes, the company said.
According to the company' estimation, the turbo-prop An-140 may become an effective addition to the region's air fleet. Among its advantages are an ability to operate in a wide range of aerodrome heights and climate conditions, in difficult weather conditions, and at night, the company said.
During the exhibit, company officials are expected to meet with representatives of Latin American aviation enterprises to discuss cooperation and the creation of new types of aviation technologies, Antonov Design Bureau said.
