Ivchenko-Progress developing next generation engine for passenger aircraft
Zaporizhia-based Ivchenko-Progress will start creating the next generation Ai-28 engine for the An-148 passenger aircraft, the chief designer of the company, Ihor Kravchenko, has told reporters.
"Now we are working on the creation of a new gas turbine engine under the working name of Ai-28, which will have a capacity of 12 megawatts. The technical task has been agreed with Antonov company," he said.
According to him, the company has already conducted preliminary work on this promising project.
"We're working hard to select the optimal profile for the Ai-28. We're now starting the schematic design," the designer said.
