Around 70 mln tonnes of grain exported via Ukrainian maritime corridor
Since its inception, the Ukrainian maritime corridor has facilitated the transportation of 106 million tons of cargo, nearly 70 million tons of which was grain, according to a statement from the press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Communities and Territories Development.
"This accounts for 4,000 vessels that have delivered our agricultural products to countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe," said Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration, Minister of Communities and Territories Development, Oleksiy Kuleba.
The ministry also reminded that on March 1, Russia launched a missile strike on port infrastructure in Odesa. As a result of the attack, two civilian port workers were injured.
The strike damaged two civilian vessels: the bulk carrier SUPER SARKAS, sailing under the flag of Sierra Leone and loaded with over 21,000 tonnes of corn and soybeans for export, and the container ship MSC LEVANTE F, registered under the Panamanian flag and owned by a leading European company. This marks the 29th civilian vessel to have sustained damage due to Russian attacks, the ministry added.
