Shmyhal: This to be second heating season when we use only Ukrainian gas
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says that in the 2024/2025 heating season, the country, like in the previous year, will use only Ukrainian gas.
"The heating season has started in all regions of Ukraine. The exception is Kherson region, where the weather is still relatively warm. The readiness of communities and regions for winter is 100%. Some 83% of all boiler houses are working, heat is supplied to 70% of residential buildings and more than 80% of schools, hospitals and kindergartens," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Tuesday.
The prime minister stressed that Ukraine has enough of its own energy resources to get through the winter.
"The gas reserves in underground storage facilities will be enough for household consumers, for heat and power companies, and budget institutions. At the same time, when forming reserves, we took into account the needs for the operation of decentralized generation gas installations. And this will be the second heating season in a row when we will use only Ukrainian gas," he concluded.
