Sweden supports Ukraine with EUR 7.2 mln in demining and drone areas
The Government of Sweden will provide EUR 7.2 million for mine Ukraine to develop its drone technology and mine clearance capabilities in support of coalitions created as part of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), the press service of the Swedish government reported.
In particular, within the framework of two coalitions under the UDCG, SEK 40 million (about EUR 3.6 million) will be provided to support mine clearance, and another SEC 40 million for drones.
"This support ensures that Ukraine can develop its drone technology and mine clearance capabilities. It will help the Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian society," said Defence Minister Pål Jonson, quoted by the press service of the Swedish government.
Sweden has been providing support to Ukraine in various areas (humanitarian, financial, military and political) since the start of the large-scale invasion of Russian occupiers. And it has declared its intention to increase assistance.
On March 13, it became known that Sweden will allocate more than SEK 1.4 billion ($137.7 million) to Ukraine to help with reconstruction and development, as well as to meet urgent humanitarian needs.
