Ukraine and Japan launch joint platform to attract Japanese business to recovery

Ukraine and Japan launched a joint business platform for infrastructure technologies for recovery and reconstruction (JUPITeR), the press service of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development reported.

"The JUPITeR platform was created to coordinate and widely attract Japanese companies to the restoration of our infrastructure. We hope that together we will develop reliable and effective mechanisms for coordinating support. This will give us and our Japanese colleagues the opportunity to clearly define priorities and effectively respond to the urgent needs of Ukraine's recovery right now," said Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

The platform will inform its members among Japanese businesses about the situation in Ukraine and priority recovery projects. Ukraine expects to attract Japanese business to the restoration of residential infrastructure, as well as to exchange experience in training specialists in the transport sector and other projects, said Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development Maryna Denysiuk.

According to her, today Japan closely cooperates with Ukraine in the areas of waste management and humanitarian demining, and supplies rails for Ukrzaliznytsia, municipal equipment and heat pumps for affected communities. In addition, the ministry and the Japanese agency JICA are implementing a technical cooperation project and the third phase of the emergency recovery program.

As reported, in December 2024, Japan created a coordinating council on the restoration of Ukraine with the participation of Ukrainian and Japanese businesses.
