The innovative rehabilitation centre for wounded Ukrainian soldiers has opened in the Dnipro region under the umbrella of the RECOVERY national network. This is the fifth rehabilitation centre of the RECOVERY project being implemented by Victor and Olena Pinchuk. Created on the site of a state medical institution, this centre will provide quality and free rehabilitation care to more than 1,700 Ukrainian defenders every year. Rehabilitation centres of the RECOVERY national network are already operating in Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Kyiv, and Odesa. This year, 10 from the 12 RECOVERY centres will open across Ukraine, enabling soldiers from different regions to have rehabilitation closer to home, near their families.

The centre in the Dnipro region has 20 full-featured double wards with 40 beds, bathrooms and amenities in line with inclusion standards, as well as physical rehabilitation and physiotherapy facilities. The wards have multifunctional electric beds and furniture to ensure comfort for the low-mobility patients. The innovative equipment and a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team will help military patients recover effectively to the highest international rehabilitation standards. The simulators and rehabilitation facilities of the centre cover the entire spectrum of functional disorders, including those caused by mine injuries, and help restore walking, as well as lost functions of the upper and lower limbs at a high technological level.

"The equipment is designed to improve the rehabilitation of our patients, make it easier, and encourage them to recover. They are very excited, everything is computerised, in the form of a game, everything is new. At the same time, we have good results: joints are well developed, and we help patients restore normal walking gait and return our defenders back to a healthy life. Each device is one-of-a-kind and can be used to treat different injuries," said Anna Oleksenko, head of the medical rehabilitation department at the RECOVERY Centre.

The RECOVERY project's mission is to help our wounded soldiers and develop the rehabilitation sector in Ukraine. This includes building a national network of rehabilitation centres for severely wounded soldiers, running international training programmes for rehabilitation specialists, providing sophisticated prosthetic care to soldiers abroad where this is not possible to do it in the country, and ensuring quality rehabilitation of soldiers in private partner clinics.

 “Now all Ukrainians are striving to contribute to the victory. We have many frontlines, with our main line being where our defenders are fighting for our independence. The medical and humanitarian effort is another important frontline where medics are also fighting — in their trenches.

My wife Olena and I have decided that rehabilitation is a focus areas for us, and we want to work consistently on the recovery of our heroes and heroines — that's why we launched the RECOVERY project.

Thanks to its geographical location and advanced medicine, Dnipro has become the fundamental and strategic medical hub in the wartime. More than 1,700 heroes and heroines will be able to undergo rehabilitation at the RECOVERY centre every year. It is an inclusive facility made in line with all international standards, so that our military can have high-quality rehabilitation in case of injury," said RECOVERY project founder Victor Pinchuk.

Among the first patients of the RECOVERY rehabilitation centre in Dnipropetrovsk Region are wounded Ukrainian heroes and heroines who have the opportunity to have quality rehabilitation using the centre's state-of-the-art equipment.

"This is truly a very high level. I have been here for rehabilitation for some time now, and I’d like to say that there is a result. I notice progress after every exercise and treatment. The doctors are very attentive and professional, which also contributes greatly to the recovery," revealed a RECOVERY Centre's patient.

Four new innovative rehabilitation centres for wounded soldiers of the RECOVERY national network in Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipro are already helping soldiers recover from their injuries, using the latest technologies and equipment. In 2023, the national network will launch ten RECOVERY innovative rehabilitation centre on sites of state hospitals in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk (two centres), Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa (two centres), Rivne, Khmelnytsky, and Cherkasy Oblasts. Every year more than 11,000 patients will be able to benefit from the rehabilitation assistance at RECOVERY centres.
