Karandeyev admits possibility of considering in future issue of adding new channels or changing telethon format

Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Rostyslav Karandeyev admits that in the future it is possible to consider adding new TV channels or changing the format of the United News (Yedyni Novyny) telethon.

Analyzing the request of the society, we see areas that require modernization," Karandeyev said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, today the viewer wants to receive more operational information, more direct news and analytics, in particular, on the situation at the front. "That is, I would like to see more materials from war correspondents. More information about the decisions of the authorities that directly concern our people. It is also possible to add more cultural product, add more documentaries," the head of the ministry noted.

When asked if any structural changes are planned in the telethon, in particular, the change of the TV channel, Karandeyev said that discussions are underway about what to change, improve, fix. "I am sure that this daily analysis will allow us to really consider the issue of either adding new channels or changing the format in the future," he concluded.

As previously reported, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk said that the United News national telethon lacks in-depth discussions on important issues and real stories about the situation at the front. Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech Yaroslav Yurchyshyn (Holos faction) believes that the effectiveness of the United News national telethon is questionable today.
