Museum in the Netherlands cancels debts for storing Scythian gold – Culture Ministry

A museum in the Netherlands has canceled debts for storing Scythian gold, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine said.

"The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and the Allard Pearson Museum – the archaeological museum of the University of Amsterdam agreed on the return of museum objects from the state part of the Museum Fund of Ukraine from four Crimean museum institutions. Since 2014, they have been exhibited at the exhibition 'Crimea. Golden Island in the Black Sea' in the Netherlands," the ministry's press service said in the statement.

It is noted that museum items include the collections of the Crimean Republican institutions: Central Museum of Taurida, Kerch Historical and Cultural Reserve, Bakhchisaray Historical, Cultural and Archaeological Museum-Reserve and the National Reserve of Tauric Chersonesos.

The Culture Ministry also expressed gratitude to the Allard Pearson Museum for storing the collections for nine years, as well as for the decision of the Netherlands not to charge costs for storing museum exhibits.
