Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles announced on Tuesday that the last four Leopard tanks, which have not yet been delivered, have been sent to Ukraine, as well as a new batch of light weapons and large-caliber ammunition.

According to the Europa Press, Robles said this after participating in a video conference with the defense ministers of Ukraine Defense Contact Group, known as the Ramstein format, where she specified that the transportation would be carried out by sea.

In addition to the last four Leopard 2A4 tanks, ten armored personnel carriers and several armored all-terrain vehicles, light trucks and ambulances will also be sent to Ukraine after appropriate overhauls.

The meeting in the Ramstein format, as explained in a statement by the Spanish Ministry of Defense, "reinforces the idea of the unity of allies and partners who have managed to analyze the latest developments in the conflict and agree on mechanisms to effectively meet the most pressing needs of Ukraine at a decisive moment."

In her speech, the minister mentioned the transfer by Spain to Ukraine of a reinforced field hospital with emergency surgery facilities, the necessary post-operative rooms, a pharmacy, sterilization, a laboratory and two hospitalization modules. The field hospital left Spain on Tuesday, his arrival in Poland, from where he will go in transit to Ukraine, is scheduled for July 23. Ukrainian doctors and logistics personnel returned on Monday, Robles said, "after two weeks of intensive training in Zaragoza, they are capable of deploying, setting up and operating this hospital in the conflict zone."

The minister also noted the relevance of the training coordination center in Toledo, where military personnel are now being trained, and reiterated Spain's commitment to supporting Ukraine in its pursuit of a "complete, just and lasting peace."

As reported, Spain sent the first six Leopard tanks to Ukraine in early April 2023.
