Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to discuss the deepening of bilateral relations and the development of the trilateral format of cooperation between Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Turkey.

"The head of state congratulated Ilham Aliyev on a confident victory in the early presidential election in Azerbaijan. The sides confirmed their mutual willingness to deepen the relations of strategic partnership, especially on the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries," the press service of the Ukrainian president said on Thursday.

Particular attention was paid to the organization of the sixth meeting of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan as part of the Azerbaijani leader's expected visit to Ukraine.
