Zelenskyy speaks with Aliyev in Munich, including about possible use of Ukrainian gas storage facilities

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelenskyy hasmet with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

According to the Office of the President of Ukraine on Saturday, Zelenskyy congratulated Aliyev on his victory in the recent early presidential elections in Azerbaijan and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations.

“We really value the warm relations between our states and our societies,” Zelenskyy said.

The presidents noted the constant mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both states.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, energy, humanitarian and other areas.

Zelenskyy noted Azerbaijan’s assistance in ensuring the reliable functioning of Ukraine’s energy system.

Separately, he thanked Aliyev for the implementation of projects to restore the city of Irpen and expressed hope for Azerbaijan’s further contribution to the economic recovery of Ukraine.

The leaders discussed possible joint economic projects, including in the energy industry. In particular, they discussed the possible use of Ukrainian gas storage facilities.

Zelenskyy also told Aliyev about preparations for the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.
