Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman initiates the creation of the Coordinating Council on Road Safety.

"A meeting on road safety issues. We are discussing road safety issues and launch the implementation of a three-year program '500-500-1000': from now on we build roads and envisage in projects the entire safety complexes - with junctions, traffic islands, pedestrian crossings and an information video surveillance and response system," he wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday, January 24.

He noted that the implementation of this program would take into account the best world experience and achievements of domestic experts.

"On my proposal, we are setting up the Coordinating Council on Road Safety, and we are working on the necessary normative decisions. Roads in Ukraine will be of good quality and safe," Groysman wrote.

In November 2017, Ukravtodor Head Slawomir Nowak said that the three-year road safety program "500-500-1000" provides for the creation of 500 roundabouts, 500 traffic islands, and 1,000 pedestrian crossings.
