Activists block van carrying detained Saakashvili with their cars

A minibus with the detained ex-president of Georgia, ex-head of Odesa regional state administration, leader of the New Forces Movement party, Mikheil Saakashvili, was able to leave Kostelna Street, surrounded by supporters of the politician and law enforcers on Triokhsviatytelska Street towards the European Square, but appeared to be blocked by other cars.

At present, the blue minibus with the politician is standing near the building of the Ukrainian House, surrounded by dozens of law enforcers and supporters of Saakashvili. The road to the minibus is blocked by a car standing across the road and three others standing parallel to the roadway of the car. A lot of other cars are parked along the sides of the two-lane Triokhsviatytelska Street, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

Driveway on Triokhsviatytelska Street up to Mykhailivska Square is open, but many Saakashvili supporters remain.

The windshield in the minibus is damaged - covered with cracks.

As reported earlier, on Tuesday morning, law-enforcers came to Saakashvili's apartment on 7, Kostelna Street to search him and detained the politician on the roof of his apartment's house. Then he was taken to a minibus and driven away. Activists tried to discourage law enforcement officers, who were followed by activists who clashed with them. The standoff continues.
