Mitchell says purpose of his visit to Kyiv is U.S. desire to demonstrate support for Ukrainian partners

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Aaron Wess Mitchell has said that the purpose of his visit is the desire of the U.S. to demonstrate support for Ukrainian partners.

The purpose of my visit is to emphasize America's commitment to Ukraine's choice, and this is not only support for Ukraine that has faced aggression in the east, but also support for our Ukrainian friends who are fighting for reforms here at home, Mitchell's statement reads distributed by the embassy's press service on Wednesday.

Mitchell noted that the United States remains loyal to Ukraine.

The key message of my trip is that the United States remains loyal to Ukraine. We appreciate the friendship with the people of Ukraine and we will further develop it, he added.

He also visited the wall of memory to the killed ATO soldiers. "The faces on this wall are a poignant reminder of the sacrifice Ukrainians have paid and the cause that these men and women died for. My trip is to underscore America’s continuing commitment to that same cause," he said.
