Saakashvili says he received documents depriving him of Ukrainian citizenship

Leader of the New Forces Movement party, ex-head of Odesa Regional State Administration, ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili said that he had received documents from the presidential administration of Ukraine on depriving him of his Ukrainian citizenship, and he plans to appeal this in court.

"I am going to court today or tomorrow. At last we have received documents on citizenship from the presidential administration and we will appeal against the deprivation of my citizenship," he said outside the building of the State Migration Service of Ukraine in Kyiv on Wednesday.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that on October 25, Saakashvili arrived at the State Migration Service to file a complaint against the response that he received from the Lviv branch of the State Migration Service, where the politician previously applied for the status of a person in need of additional protection.

The response states that Saakashvili must personally arrive at the territorial body of the State Migration Service at the place of his residence.

At the same time, Saakashvili's team noted that the politician intended to appeal against the response in court. In addition, on Thursday, October 26, Saakashvili plans to apply to the State Migration Service to obtain the status of a person who needs additional protection.
