Lutsenko vows to hold criminally liable organizers, individuals leading illegal border crossing at Shehyni checkpoint

People responsible for the organization of the illegal border crossing at the Shehyni checkpoint, Lviv region, and individuals, who have led and contributed to illegal actions, should be held criminally liable, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said.

"The law demands that those, who have organized illegal border crossing, have led such actions or contributed to them by advices or actions, be held criminally liable. This will be done. Evaluation will be given to the bodies of power's actions in the course of the today's events," Lutsenko wrote on his Facebook page late on Sunday evening.

As reported, supporters of former Odesa regional administration head Mikheil Saakashvili, who had been stripped of Ukrainian citizenship, have broken through the Ukrainian law enforcers' cordon at the Shehyni checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border and have led the politician into the territory of Ukraine.

Saakashvili is currently staying in Lviv.
