The police have detained one of the top managers of Ukrainian bank Finance and Credit Oleh Shapkin wanted by Interpol on suspicion of misappropriation and embezzlement in St. Petersburg.

"At 18:00 on August 24, 2017 during a raid by the Interpol officers of the Main Department of the Interior Ministry of Russia in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region a 53-year-old citizen of one of the neighbor states was detained near building 58 on the Moika River embankment. It was established that he was put on a wanted list by law enforcement agencies of his country on suspicion of misappropriation and embezzlement," the press service of the regional main department of the Interior Ministry last week.

The man was delivered to the police station. The initiator of putting this man on the wanted list was notified about his detention.

A source told Interfax-Ukraine that the detained person is Deputy Board Chairman of Kyiv's bank Finance and Credit Oleh Shapkin.
