U.S. military instructors started the training of a group of Ukrainian specialists, who will train commandos themselves after their training is complete, the press service of the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff said on Saturday.

The training is taking place at a base of the special force army unit. The training program, in which 50 American instructors are involved, includes theoretical and practical parts. The course under the U.S. commando system will last six months.

Candidates for training in the course have been selected with due account of their physical preparation level, state of health and the moral and psychological state of combatants. Servicemen of all types and arms of troops wanted to take exams; the priority was given to commandos, paratroopers and reconnaissance scouts, the press service said.

The statement did not give the number of Ukrainian participants in the program.

The qualification course for the special operation forces will take place in the Khmelnytsky region, press secretary of the Defense Ministry Viktoria Kushnir said earlier.
