Documents and objects important to an investigation into an Airbus A321 crash in the Sinai Peninsula on October 31 have been found during a search at the crash site, Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax.

"At a request by the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, competent bodies of the Republic of Egypt significantly widened the area of the search operation. Due to this, investigators and criminologists assisted by Russian Emergency Situations Ministry specialists have already discovered documents, objects, and materials significant for the criminal investigation. They will be examined and analyzed together with officials from competent Egyptian bodies," Markin said.

"Competent Egyptian bodies are also analyzing recordings retrieved from the flight recorders together with specialists from the Interstate Aviation Committee, and these recordings will later be passed to investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee," he said.

Investigative Committee chief Alexander Bastrykin mentioned excellent teamwork between investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee, the Emergency Situations Ministry, and the Interstate Aviation Committee and support from Egyptian authorities, including in the form of technical assistance.
