Ukraine leader endorses ratification of MH17 inquiry agreements with Netherlands and Australia

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed into law a bill ratifying an agreement that allows Australia to send its personnel to Ukraine to investigate the July 17 crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, the presidential press service has reported.

Poroshenko also signed into a law a bill that ratifies an agreement with the Netherlands concerning an international mission for the protection of investigators working at the crash site.

The documents, which were signed in Kyiv on July 25 and July 28, respectively, are due to enter into force on the date of these countries receiving diplomatic notes from Ukraine, the press service said.

"Law No. 1619-VII "On the ratification of the agreement between Ukraine and Australia permitting the departure of Australian personnel to Ukraine in connection with the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17" will allow the Australian side to join the investigation of the reasons behind the air crash, which occurred in Ukraine on July 17," the press service said.

The two agreements were ratified by the Ukrainian parliament at a closed-door emergency session on Thursday.
