Nobody could even think Russia would dare to send Buk-type missile to Donbas – Klimkin

Nobody even could assume that as a result of Donbas 'hybrid war' such a high-accuracy and complex weapon as Buk surface-to-air missile launcher, which shot down a Malaysian Airlines MH17 flight jetliner, to be brought to Ukraine's Donbas, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.

Being asked about accusations addressed to Ukraine because of its failure to shut the air space over its territory when the conflict in Donbas unfolded, the minister said: "On that moment we didn't realize such a threat exists, and that Russia could send to Donbas such a high-accuracy system that could shot aircraft. We expected that simple weaponry that came from Russia to Donbas would be there, but not such complex as the Buk, which definitely was there as the report confirmed."

He said that one knows what to expect if war is declared, but this war was not declared so nobody could even imagine such menace.

Besides, Klimkin added that as far as he knows Russian aircraft still fly very close to the territory of Donbas.
