Financing of separatism in Ukraine be punished by criminal liability

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the country's parliament, has made amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding criminal liability for the financing of separatism.

A total of 238 MPs accredited for the voting backed the relative bill, a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine reported.

According to the amendments introduced into Article 110 of the Criminal Code, financing of the actions committed to changing the state border of Ukraine will be punished by imprisonment from 3 to 5 years with confiscation of the property and with deprival of the right to hold definite posts or deal in business for a two year-term.

Financing of the actions meant for violent change or overthrow of the constitutional regime, seizure of state power are punished by imprisonment from five to seven years with no right to hold certain posts or carry out certain activities within two years, and also foresees the confiscation of property.
