Ukraine lags behind Action Plan on Visa Liberalization with EU – Nemyria

1 min read

Ukraine is lagging seriously behind in the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization with the EU, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria has said.

"Ukraine has considerably delayed the implementation of the Action Plan [on Visa Liberalization]," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Nemyria also said that the Ukrainian parliament still has not passed the anti-discrimination law and has not finished work on the anti-corruption legislation that should envisage the creation of an independent anti-corruption agency.

The parliamentarian added that Moldova, which two years ago "was lagging behind," is now ahead of Ukraine in the settlement of the abovementioned issues.

"Moldova is likely to introduce visa free travel for its citizens with tourist visas starting from 2014," Nemyria said.
