Lavrynovych: Justice Ministry waiting for conclusion of European experts on repeat elections in five disputed districts

The Ukrainian Justice Ministry is waiting for the conclusions of European experts regarding the scheduling of repeat elections of MPs in five disputed districts, Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych has said.

"The Justice Ministry has been preparing such proposals, and they have currently been submitted for an expert assessment to the Venice Commission, OSCE, European Union experts, as well as the leaders of all parliamentary groups, so that that they can express their views on the proposals," Lavrynovych said at a press conference on Monday.

He said that the Justice Ministry's proposals on this issue would be submitted only when there are answers from all of these agencies and experts. Lavrynovych said that "these cannot be changes to the current law."

When asked when the elections could be held in these districts, the minister said that "he doesn't make predictions like a weather center."

As reported, the CEC declared it impossible to establish the results of the elections in five troubled constituencies, and the Verkhovna Rada recommended that the CEC schedule repeat elections in these districts: constituency No. 94 (Obukhiv, Kyiv region), No. 132 (Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region), No. 194 and No. 197 (Cherkasy region), and constituency No. 225 (Kyiv, Shevchenkivsky district).
