Since 2022, the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company has focused on the development of grain cargo infrastructure, for which it has modernized the existing transshipment complex and intends to build a logistic complex for working not only with river, but also sea cargo.

According to a report from its press service on Telegram, to modernize the existing reloading complex, the company installed a car unloader that tips the car directly into the receiving hopper. A line connected to the main production line was built for the automobile unloader. This made the supply of cargo from cars into the hold of barges fully automated.

In addition, a site with an area of 6,000 square meters was built to accommodate and park vehicles.

“We now have two warehouses for storing grain, one of which is fully mechanized. We are installing another scale at the exit for calibrating empty vehicles, which will increase the volume of cargo acceptance. For this, we are also planning to expand the entrance gates,” said Leonid Bondar, head of the logistic complex.

The company is also considering the possibility of creating another production line for simultaneous loading of two barges. The strategic goal is to move away from grain and work with various types of cargo: metal, mineral fertilizers, construction materials, etc.

“The demand for the transportation of grain from Ukraine is constantly changing. The opening of Odesa ports for the export of grain made it possible to take a short break, acquire and install additional equipment, modernize the complex and prepare to work with other types of cargo,” Bondar explained.

Deputy General Director of Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company Vladyslav Belakh, in turn, said that the company has ordered a project for another logistics complex to work not only with river, but also sea transportation.

“We have everything to launch this project - an ideal site, access roads, crane facilities and even our own marine fleet, which we are gradually restoring,” Belakh concluded.
