The maritime corridor created by the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Danube has ensured the export of almost 26 million tonnes of cargo since August 2023, of which more than 18 million tonnes are products of Ukrainian farmers, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development (Ministry of Reconstruction) reported on Facebook on Friday.

A total of 854 vessels were sent from the ports of Big Odesa to 42 countries.

The total volume of cargo sent along the maritime corridor and along the Danube since August amounted to 30 million tonnes. 93% of the products of Ukrainian farmers are exported through these routes, the ministry said.

"Export volumes along the Ukrainian corridor have almost reached the pre-war level of exports from the ports of Pivdenny, Odesa and Chornomorsk. In December, 6.8 million tonnes were exported by sea, in January – 6.7 million tonnes. Although February is the shortest month in year, we still hope to maintain the export figure not lower than previous months," Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

He emphasized that a stable operating corridor is important both for the economy of Ukraine and for the food security of the world.

"The Ukrainian corridor and Danube ports today provide more than 90% of agricultural exports. And given the situation with our exports being blocked on the western border, we are preparing to increase agricultural exports across the Danube, bypassing the border with Poland. The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDS) is already preparing barge caravans that can transport more than 2,000 trucks monthly," Kubrakov said.

The ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdenny are expecting another 111 vessels to call, which, after loading, will export 3.3 million tonnes of cargo.
