The United States of America will allocate almost $700 million for the modernization of Ukrainian ports, railways and checkpoints, said Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction - Minister for Communities and Territories Development and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov after a meeting with US Special Representative Penny Pritzker.

“We must modernize Ukrainian checkpoints, ports and railways. This will improve logistics and increase export capacity. The United States plans to provide almost $700 million for this,” he wrote on Facebook.

During the meeting with American officials, according to Kubrakov, the need for investment in the restoration of the energy network and municipal infrastructure damaged because of Russian shelling was also discussed.

In addition, the issues of mine clearance and development of the agricultural sector remain relevant.

“All these areas must be ready for private initiative and capital,” the minister emphasized.

He also noted that a general working group has already been created to develop a cooperation model for the transition to the implementation of specific projects.

“I am ready to discuss every cent of American assistance and investment. I am confident that accountability and transparency of the processes will motivate the private sector to join large-scale recovery processes,” Kubrakov concluded.
