Ovostar Union, one of the leading producers of eggs and egg goods in Ukraine, in January-September 2018 increased sales of eggs by 27% compared to the same period in 2017, to 1.056 billion pieces.

According to a group report on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, egg production during this period decreased by 3.5%, to 1.202 billion pieces.

Egg exports in the nine months increased by 27%, to 443 million eggs. The share of exports in total sales of eggs remained at the level of last year and amounted to 42%. The average selling price rose by 34%, to UAH 1.79 per unit.

As of September 30, 2018, the total livestock of the company decreased by 7.6% compared to the same period in 2017, to 7.3 million birds, the number of laying hens by 4.4%, to 6.5 million.

"The dynamics is mainly due to the increase in the number of chickens placed in modified cages in accordance with European standards," the report says.

The group also reported that in January-September the volume of egg processing grew by 6%, to 401 million eggs. Production of egg powder declined by 5%, to 2,255 tonnes, and that of liquid egg products was up by 14%, to 9,026 tonnes.
