Ukraine ready to talks on gas transit with Russia after Stockholm arbitration – Naftogaz CEO

Ukraine is ready to discuss the futre of Russian gas transit across Ukraine after a decision of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, Naftogaz Ukrainy CEO Andriy Kobolev told Interfax-Ukraine on the sidelines of the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos organized by Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

He did not rule out that the government and the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of Ukraine would hold talks on behalf of Ukraine.

"Naftogaz is ready, but there is peculiarity. The government wants to hold these talks. There is a likelihood that Kistion [Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion] with Nasalyk [Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalyk] would go to the talks on [gas] transit," he said.

Earlier Vice President of the European Commission in charge of the Energy Union Maros Sefcovic invited Russia and Ukraine to discuss with each other future transit of Russian gas through Ukraine following the Stockholm arbitration ruling in their gas contract dispute.
