Some 313,000 tonnes of coal from Russia, 45,000 tonnes from South Africa shipped to Ukrainian TPPs, CHPPs in June

A total of 1.355 million tonnes of imported coal was shipped to Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) and combined heat and power plants (CHPPs) in January-June 2017, including 313,000 tonnes from Russia in June and 44,600 tonnes from South Africa.

A source in the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine that in January-June 2017, some 1.091 million tonnes of coal was delivered to Ukrainian power plants, including 145,100 tonnes from South Africa and 118,900 tonnes from Poland.

Coal stocks at warehouses of TPPs and CHPPs in June 2017 grew by 2% or 51,400 tonnes, reaching 2.643 million tonnes of as July 1, 2017. In particular, gas coal and long-flame coal stocks amounted to 1.874 million tonnes, while anthracite coal stocks amounted to 768,900 million tonnes.

Some 1.736 million tonnes was shipped in June 2017 to Ukrainian TPPs and CHPPs. The plants consumed 1.685 million tonnes.

Fuel oil stocks at TPPs in June grew by 11.7%, to 69,500 tonnes.

Coal stocks at warehouses of the plants as of July 1, 2017 were 63.4% more than a year ago, while fuel oil stock were 38.2% less.

TPPs and CHPPs consumed 108.3 million cubic meters of natural gas in June 2017 compared to 142.2 million cubic meters in May 2017 and 94.1 million cubic meters in June 2016.
