Coal stocks at Ukraine's TPPs 2% down over week – Ukrenergo

Coal stocks in the warehouses of thermal power plants (TPP) in Ukraine from November 16 to November 23 fell by 2%, from 2.12 million tonnes to 2.078 million tonnes.

According to Ukrenergo, anthracite coal reserves totaled 977,900 tonnes (311,900 tonnes at Luhansk T P P) and gas and short-flame coal – 1.1 million tonnes (including 168,900 tonnes at Burshtyn TPP).

Ukrenergo said that in the morning of November 23, a total of 37 coal power units and one fuel oil power unit at the thermal power plants of generating companies with a capacity of 5.983 GW were operating. The nuclear power plants (NPPs) had a capacity of 10.267 GW, hydroelectric power plants – 1.38 GW, combined heat and power plants – 1.942 GW, and alternative energy units - 210 MW.

The power flow between Ukraine and Crimea on Monday was 0 MW.

As reported, coal stocks in the warehouses of thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants in Ukraine increased by 9.9% (by 235,700 tonnes) in October 2015, and as of November 1, 2015 amounted to 2.609 million tonnes.

Ukrenergo operates Ukraine's backbone and interstate power grid and supervises the country's national grid. It is a state-owned company and is controlled by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
