Ukraine, Turkmenistan discuss increasing fuel purchases – energy minister

Ukraine and Turkmenistan have discussed the issue of the former country increasing fuel purchases, Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn has said.

"Today an interesting field is the delivery of petroleum products. Turkmenistan has built two large oil refineries with a large enough depth of processing. Ukraine is ready to buy sufficiently large volumes. We are talking about 20,000 to 100,000 tonnes per month," he told reporters in Ashgabat.

He said the logistics of this issue is quite complicated, but "everything can be solved in the process of negotiations."

"Many times our delegation arrived in Turkmenistan and the major issue has always been energy. Historically Ukraine bought large amounts of gas. In recent years, unfortunately, we do not buy gas from Turkmenistan. Ukraine is very interested in gas supply from Turkmenistan, but for various reasons it does not happen," the minister said.
