Ukrinbank holding talks with two banks on possible merger

Ukrinbank (Kyiv), one of the largest banks in Ukraine, is holding talks with two banks from the fourth group of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) classifications on a possible merger, Ukrinbank Board Chairman Volodymyr Klymenko has said.

"We're holding talks with two banks from group four on the possible merger. Talks are at the initial stage. The merger of the financial institutions would allow the united bank to increase its market share, strengthen its capital, increase the number of clients and expand the regional network," Klymenko told Interfax-Ukraine.

Ukrinbank was founded in 1989. Its largest stockholder as of June 5, 2015, was Klymenko with 71.1436%.

The bank ranked 26th among 127 operating banks in terms of total assets worth UAH 6.897 billion as of July 1, 2015, according to the NBU.
