Ukrainian seaports in January reduce freight transshipment by 9%

Ukrainian seaports, according to current data from the main dispatcher department of the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine, in January 2014 reduced cargo handling by 9% compared to the same period in 2013, to 10.677 million tonnes.

According to the press service of the administration, the state stevedoring companies managed by the Infrastructure Ministry handled 3.268 million tonnes (30.6% of the total volume), and private stevedoring companies 7.409 million tonnes (69.4%), in particular private stevedoring companies through the piers of the administration handled 3.981 million tonnes (37.2%).

Handling of exported cargo increased by 0.6%, to 7.479 million tonnes, imported goods - fell by 27.8%, to 910,000 tonnes.

Handling of transit freight decreased by 24.4%, to 2.245 million tonnes, cabotage - by 40%, to 43,000 tonnes.

Transshipment of containers at seaports was 52,296 TEU, which is 0.5% less than in January 2013.

As reported, Ukraine's seaports in 2013 reduced freight transshipment by 2% compared to 2012, to 148 million tonnes.
