Jysk expands chain in Ukraine to 18 stores

Kyiv, October 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Jysk Ukraine LLC (Kyiv), which is developing a network of Jysk stores of household items in Ukraine, on October 24 opened a store in Mariupol, Donetsk region, which became the 18th store of the chain in Ukraine, the retailer said in a press release.

The company said that the store with a gross retail area of 730 square meters is located on the second floor of the largest shopping mall in the town – PortCity. The mall is located at 2, Volodarske Shose.

On Thursday, a store in Kyiv with the gross retail area of 1,000 square meters opened in the Arkadia shopping mall at 154A, Borschahivska Street.

Jysk Ukraine said that it is planned to open stores in Sumy and Odesa in the near term.

Today, the Jysk chain has 18 stores in Ukraine: in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Makiyivka, Kherson, Simferopol, Sevastopol and Yalta.

As reported, Jysk Ukraine LLC plans by the end of 2013 to open at least five stores, in particular, in Kyiv (the Arkadia trade center), Mariupol (Port City) and Sumy (Manufaktura shopping center).

The company plans in the 2014 calendar year to open at least 12 stores in Ukraine.

In October 2012 the Jysk chain started opening its own rather than franchise stores in Ukraine. It plans in 10-15 years to open at least 200 retail outlets across the country and 2,000 stores in the world, and in 2013 - at least ten stores in Ukraine.

Investment in the network expansion in Ukraine in the next 10-15 years is estimated at UAH 1 billion.

Jysk Ukraine has been developing the Jysk network in Ukraine since 2004.

The network is developed in three standard formats: stores of 1,000 square meters, hyper-Jysk stores of 2,000 square meters and city-Jysk stores of 500-600 square meters.
