VETEK Group starts building of Kharkiv-Arena worth UAH 350 m

VETEK Group has started to build the Kharkiv-Arena sports complex, which will host the matches of EuroBasket 2015, the group's press service reported.

"On August 23 there was a solemn ceremony to lay a symbolic capsule in Kharkiv, which marked the launch of the full-scale building of the modern sports complex… The size of investment in the project will total about UAH 350 million. The building is to be finished in December 2014," reads the report.

Kharkiv-Arena could seat 7,086 spectators and will meet international standards for holding sports events, in particular, the regulations of FIBA Europe.

The complex will be able to host competitions in basketball, handball, volleyball, hockey, or about 100 kinds of sport. The arena also foresees the ability to install an ice rink.

Ukrainian Premier Oleksandr Vilkul and owner of VETEK Serhiy Kurchenko participated in the ceremony.

As reported, VETEK trades in liquefied and natural gases, oil products, goods for the oil and gas sector, and runs some 150 filling stations. The main shareholder of the group, Kurchenko, became the owner of the Metalist football club (Kharkiv) at the end of last year.

Recently VETEK purchased UMH Media Group and Brokbusinessbank.
