Coal stocks at Ukrainian power plants 11.5% down in July 2013

Coal stocks at thermal power plants (TPP) and combined heat power plants in July fell by 11.5% or 607,000 tonnes, and as of August 1, 2013 came to 4.666 million tonnes, according to the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.

Last month, the stocks of boiler oil at power plants increased by 0.5% or 500 tonnes, to 117,800 tonnes.

The average daily supply of coal to power plants grew from 85,900 tonnes in June to 94,500 tonnes in July, while daily consumption rose from 98,600 tonnes to 115,400 tonnes.

Natural gas consumption by power plants in July 2013 was 136.6 million cubic meters, against 138.8 million cubic meters in June 2013.

According to Interfax-Ukraine's information, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry has ordered to create coal stocks of 5.2 million tonnes and boiler oil stocks of 53,400 tonnes at thermal power plants and combined heat power plants by November 1, 2013.

The projected capacity of thermal power plants and combined heat power plants in Ukraine as of early 2013 stood at 33.89 gigawatts or 63% of the total capacity of all Ukrainian power plants.
