The sixth innovative rehabilitation centre for wounded Ukrainian soldiers has opened in Odesa under the umbrella of the RECOVERY national network. It makes 6 of
12 rehabilitation facilities to be opened under the RECOVERY project this year alone. The project was founded and is implemented by Victor and Olena Pinchuk. Created on the site a regional municipal healthcare facility, the Odesa-based Centre is fitted out with the cutting-edge innovative equipment and meets the inclusion standards.

The Ukrainian defenders at the RECOVERY rehabilitation centre will benefit from a physical therapy room, a kinesiotherapy room, 3 physiotherapy rooms, an ergotherapy room, a psychological support room, a manipulation room, and 13 inclusive wards with 30 beds.

To ensure comfort and convenience, the centre has wide doorways, a special anti-slip flooring, handrails in the corridors, and bathrooms and showers designed to be comfortable for patients with reduced mobility. Thanks to the RECOVERY project, Ukrainian wounded soldiers will be able to undergo free rehabilitation to the highest standards.

"Representing the private sector, my wife Olena and I have set ourselves the goal to contribute to the development of rehabilitation in Ukraine. The sector has never been on such a scale before, and we understand that rehabilitation is the most important goal and problem for the country, society, the government, and the private sector for many years to come. With the RECOVERY project, we will open innovative rehabilitation centres across the country, conduct training programmes for doctors, and, if necessary, participate in the development of a national policy on the rehabilitation of our defenders," said the RECOVERY project founder Victor Pinchuk.

Odesa-based Centre has a multidisciplinary team of doctors consisting of physical rehabilitation doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, assistants, a speech therapist and a psychologist. With the cutting-edge equipment and high qualifications, the team will provide high-quality rehabilitation care to our heroes and heroines.

"The future of the medical rehabilitation is evidence-based rehabilitation with a multidisciplinary approach and a team of specialists at the core. At our RECOVERY centre, we adhere to the highest standards of patient rehabilitation, and in combination with innovative equipment, we ensure high-quality and effective rehabilitation for our defenders.

The modern RECOVERY centre has the most advanced medical equipment, helping patients live a full life after injury and treatment. The project yields impressive results: the joint efforts and aspirations, the common goal of recovery and gratitude to the heroes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the heart and soul everyone puts into this," said Liudmyla Khvelevska, head physician at Odesa RECOVERY Centre.

The need for high-quality rehabilitation in Ukraine is growing every day, as public hospitals are now unable to provide proper care to all military patients. The RECOVERY project is an example of effective public-private partnership. Its mission is to develop the rehabilitation sector in the country. This includes building a national network of rehabilitation centres for severely wounded soldiers, running international training programmes for rehabilitation specialists, providing sophisticated prosthetic care to soldiers abroad where this is not possible to do it in Ukraine, and ensuring quality rehabilitation of soldiers in private partner clinics.

The state-of-the-art equipment and VR devices in the Centre stand the defenders in good stead, helping them accelerate the recovery time. The equipment covers the entire spectrum of functional disorders, including those caused by mine injuries, and help restore walking, as well as lost functions of the upper and lower limbs at a high technological level.

The first patients of the Odesa-based Centre are already undergoing treatment. Thanks to the extensive network of RECOVERY rehabilitation centres that will be launched all over Ukraine, wounded soldiers can recover near their families and have their support.

"I served in the Army from the first days of the war, first in the north, then near Mykolaiv, and later in Kherson Oblast. My first bulletproof vest was very heavy, and after more than a year of continuous pressure on my back, I was injured and unable to stand up. The centre is very good, I've been here for almost a month. I've seen a lot of things, but I've never seen anything like this," revealed one of the first patients of the RECOVERY Centre.

Six innovative rehabilitation centres for wounded soldiers of the RECOVERY national network in Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Odesa (2 centres) and Dnipro region (2 centres) are already helping soldiers recover from their injuries, using the latest technologies and equipment. In 2023 alone, the national network will launch twelve RECOVERY  innovative rehabilitation centre on sites of state hospitals in Vinnytsia, Dnipro (two centres), Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa (two centres), Rivne, Khmelnytsky, and Cherkasy Oblasts. Every year more than 12,000 patients will be able to benefit from the rehabilitation assistance at RECOVERY centres.
