Konstantin Kondakov Won the Person of the Year Award

Most countries have a wonderful annual tradition to celebrate the achievements of their distinguished fellow-countrymen. Moreover, Ukraine is by no means an exception. The Pan-Ukrainian Person of the Year program has been in place since 1995. It presents awards to people who had significantly influenced their homeland’s development. The award nominees are determined by a vote from various NGOs, media sources, foundations and so on, while the Supreme Academic Award Board appoints the winners. In 2013, the top prize in the Arts Patron of the Year category went to Konstantin Kondakov, an eminent IT entrepreneur. Kondakov is a perfect example of a self-made man. Ever since he was a little kid he was into information technologies and financial markets, and, consequently, his passion grew into a serious business. By the time he turned 30 Kondakov was already in repute in Ukrainian and foreign business circles, and thanks to not only his financial achievements, but to his active charity work as well. It has to be mentioned, that Kondakov first attended the Person of the Year award ceremony as an honorary guest in 2011. During the event, many eyes turned to the young and energetic businessman. After all, he was one of the first people in Ukraine to talk about the necessity to increase the population’s financial literacy level and develop philanthropy. Way back in 2005, Konstantin Kondakov founded the Good Deeds International Charity Foundation, whose motto is “With love in your heart we build a new world”. In 2013 alone, thanks to the Charity’s efforts, about 500 events were held. Sweet dreams for every children’s home was one of the most ambitious projects of the Charity, which managed to give children from over 100 children’s homes in Ukraine new bright and comfortable bed sheets, blankets and pillows. Konstantin Kondakov’s Foundation actively supports talented youth, namely by sponsoring various intellectual, cultural and athletic competitions, awarding financial grants to innovative developments. Kondakov’s merits didn’t go unnoticed, and when he got nominated for Person of the Year, the jury voted in his favor almost unanimously. Currently, Konstantin Kondakov continues on developing his IT enterprise and is active for the good of the world, since he believes it to be the foundation of his success. In an interview he said: “To be successful means to do something that brings material and moral satisfaction”.
