Over 60% support Ukrainian as sole state language - poll

KYIV. Feb 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Over 60% of citizens think that the only state language in Ukraine should be Ukrainian, according to a sociological survey conducted by the Rating Sociological Group.

According to the results of the survey presented at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Thursday, one in five respondents (20%) believe that the Russian language can be granted official status in certain regions, and 15% of respondents support the idea of granting it the status of a state language.

According to a report released by the group, in 2014, the Ukrainian language as the only state was supported by 47% of citizens.

The survey was conducted from December 12 to December 28, 2017. A total of 30,000 respondents aged over 18 were interviewed face-to-face. The poll's margin of error does not exceed 0.6%.
