KYIV, July 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Heads of Kyiv City State Administration departments give themselves bonuses of up to UAH 38,000 a month, Deputy of Kyiv City Council Oleksandr Vovchenko (Radical Party) has said.

"The general trend in the second half of 2014 and partially 2015 is that the majority of department directors and their deputies give themselves bonuses worth several times as much as their official salary," Vovchenko said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

According to him, the finance department was the worst offender as bonuses for the head of the department and his deputies ranged between UAH 11,000-38,000. The total for 11 months amounted to over UAH 500,000.

The amount of bonuses in the communal property department reached UAH 17,000-23,000, city planning and architecture and economy and investments – UAH 9,000-19,000, land resources – UAH 16,500-27,000, public utilities UAH 4,000-10,000.

Vovchenko said that only the directors receive these bonuses.

"I'm not against high salaries for officials. Quality work should be properly motivated. But the largest bonuses were received in the departments starring in corruption scandals. To bring my investigation to a logical end, a month ago I registered the project of Kyiv Council's resolution that would make Kyiv City State Administration, regional state administration officials and public utilities companies heads not only make public their declaration but also send them to Fiscal Service to be examined," Vovchenko said.
